Rebecca Short, Spiritual Director, LMFT, Grief Educator, SoulCollage™ Facilitator
About
I am a therapist and spiritual director who loves to walk with people through life’s thresholds. For me, it is less about giving answers and more about offering presence and companionship as each person listens for their own inner wisdom. This approach to spiritual direction coincides with the Celtic philosophy of Anam Cara or “soul friend.” As I accompany clients in their soul journey, I often blend psychology and spirituality, drawing from the human warmth of Carl Rogers and the symbolic depth of Carl Jung. I weave together therapeutic practices such as creative collage, found poetry, bibliotherapy, and expressive journaling, all gentle ways of helping the soul find its voice.
I am particularly interested in helping those who are in key transition phases of their lives, such as young adults or those entering retirement. I also have a special connection with those experiencing grief, facing terminal illness, those involved in caregiving of family members, and those coping with chronic pain in their own lives. Individuals who are divorced or widowed, in the LGBTQIA+ community, living with physical or mental challenges, or dealing with trauma can also find safety and care in my practice.
While I was raised in a conservative Christian denomination, I now consider myself a Spiritual Independent. I believe each person’s relationship with their understanding of God, the Divine, Spirit, or any other multitude of names for something beyond and greater than ourselves is more critical than human-created dogmas. This belief aligns with my Interspirituality and love for the natural world.
